Present continuous: arrangements and plans
The present continuous is used mostly to talk about personal arrangements and fixed plans, especially when the time and place have been decided.
My car’s going in for a service next week.
We often use the present progressive with verbs of movements, to talk about actions which are just starting.
Are you coming to the pub?
Get your coat on! I’m taking you down to the doctor!
We’re going to Mexico to next summer.
I’m seeing Larry on Saturday.
Did you know I’m getting a new job?
What are we having for dinner?
